The Halifax Convention Centre Corp. has named FMAV as its official in-house partner for audiovisual, digital sign software and support, as well as exclusive rigging services. This is the first supplier selected for the new centre, marking a significant operational milestone in preparation for opening.

"We're committed to delivering a strong customer experience, and we look forward to partnering with FMAV to share our vision of ensuring successful event delivery," said Carrie Cussons, acting president and chief executive officer of the Halifax Convention Centre Corp. "Together, we'll invest in better technical support for our clients and align our new facility with technology trends to provide innovative offerings."

FMAV was selected following a competitive procurement process. The request included a series of criteria, including audiovisual services, digital signs and rigging services, as well as capital investment, supplier experience and pricing.

"We're thrilled to strengthen our relationship with the Halifax Convention Centre team and prepare to operate in their brand new centre with state-of-the-art audiovisual support," said Bill Brown, president and chief executive officer of FMAV. "Through this partnership, we look forward to delivering an incredible event experience for clients and their attendees."

The evaluation process included a thorough review of proposals, presentations and references. An evaluation team of Halifax Convention Centre staff in the areas of event technology, event operations, and sales and marketing made the selection. While competition was strong, FMAV demonstrated expertise and enthusiasm in all areas, as well as a strong commitment to make capital investment in Halifax Convention Centre systems and equipment over the duration of the contract.

FMAV will provide audiovisual services for conventions and trade shows over a five-year contract and will invest about $500,000 in facility systems and equipment. FMAV will also pay the centre a commission of 45 per cent on invoices for services billed to clients. The contract is being finalized, with services set to begin when the new facility opens in 2017.

The Halifax Convention Centre is part of the Nova Centre, a one-million square-foot, mixed-used development including a hotel, financial tower and retail space. It is the largest integrated development project in the province's history. The funding of the convention centre is shared between three levels of government, totalling $169.2 million. The centre will have 120,000 square feet of event space, including two convention levels and a mix of multi-purpose, meeting and ballroom space.
